Katherine... the story of the girl on the poster!
A story as told by Nikki Johnston, National Director or CHFA (Children's Hospital Foundations Australia)
When the now eight year old Katherine was only 18-months-old she was walking along a bush trail with her family when she accidentally fell into a smouldering camp fire, burning the entire palm of her right hand, her left hand, knee and little toe. Fortunately, her Dad picked her up and immediately threw her into a nearby river to soothe the burns, but the burns were so severe that bits of her hand floated to the surface.
For the past seven years, Katherine has endured ongoing medical treatment, painful physio and skin graft operations to allow her to continue growing. Katherine's greatest wish is to get better, faster - without the hurt.
There are better, less painful ways to treat children who need help - we just have to find them. And we will only find them with enough support, money and resources.
The Coffee Club's generous donation in lieu of corporate office Christmas gifts this year will do so much more than just make someone happy at Christmas time. It will enable our Children's Hospitals to continue finding breakthrough treatments and cures to really make a difference in a child's life, now and in the future.
On behalf of Katherine, Children's Hospital Foundations Australia and the children and families who need support, I would like to sincerely thank you for turning your Christmas gift into practical, positive help for sick and injured children.
Katherine (featured on the promotion material for the campaign) is also one of a new generation of Australian children who will benefit from The Coffee Club Changing Children's Lives initiative supporting Children's Hospital Foundations Australia.
Children's Hospital Foundations Australia is a national partnership of five of our oldest children's charities including the Royal Children's Hospital Foundations in Qld and Vic, Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation, Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation WA and the Women's and Children's Hospital Foundation SA. By contributing to CHFA you automatically benefit each hospital partner.
